Tam 57 kilometre uzunlu\u011fuyla <strong>d\u00fcnyan\u0131n en uzun t\u00fcneli<\/strong> olan bu yeralt\u0131 \u015faheseri, Avrupa&#8217;da ula\u015f\u0131m\u0131 ve lojisti\u011fi d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcrd\u00fc.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tarihsel Ba\u011flam ve \u0130lham<\/h2>\n\n<p>G\u00f6rkemli Alpler, uzun s\u00fcredir Kuzey Denizi ile Akdeniz aras\u0131ndaki demiryolu yolculu\u011fu i\u00e7in zorlu bir engel te\u015fkil ediyordu. 1882&#8217;de bu zorlu\u011fun \u00fcstesinden gelmek i\u00e7in sadece 15 kilometre uzunlu\u011fundaki eski Gotthard t\u00fcneli in\u015fa edildi.
